KP appoints PTI chief’s wife as ambassador for street children

“State children, not street children,” were the words stressed upon by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s wife Reham Khan as she addressed a ceremony called for International Day for Street Children on Sunday.

Along with laying emphasis on the need to protect street children in Pakistan, Reham addressed Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s offer to gift her a gold jewellery set and Imran a shalwar kameez suit on her visit to Karachi on Thursday. Reham said that she didn’t get any jewellery set from MQM.

“I request Altaf Bhai… if he really wants to gift something, he should instead donate it to the ShaukatKhanumMemorialCancerHospital and for the welfare of street children,” Reham said, talking to the media.

“Why would I need jewellery? PTI supporters are my jewels. God has given me whatever was meant for me.”

Reham appeared critical of the apathy of the Pakistani people when it comes to street children. She said being an Islamic Republic, it is the utmost responsibility of the Pakistani people, especially those belonging to the educated class, to play their part in protecting street children.
