CDA turns blind eye towards corrupt officials

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to take action against officials of the building and enforcement department for their alleged involvement in allowing residential areas to be used for commercial purposes.

The Supreme Court had directed the civic agency to take stern action against the officials involved in the alleged violation of building by-laws; but the civic agency, it seems, has swept the order under the carpet.

The civic agency, meanwhile, is trying to pass the buck on the local administration and police instead of taking action against its own officials, who have allowed people to turn residential buildings into commercial ones.

Currently, more than six inspectors, four assistant directors and two deputy directors are working in the building and enforcement department but CDA Member Planning Waseem Ahmed has failed to comply with the court order, which has called for stern action against the officials.
