Demands MQM chief Altaf Hussain be brought back to Pakistan for trial
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail said that MQM would be held responsible if any attack was made on his party during Imran Khan’s visit to NA-246 on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Ismail said that Khan would spend a full day in Karimabad to lead party’s campaign for the by-election. “Imran Khan will visit the constituency and meet voters,” he said, alleging that MQM was forcefully taking identify cards from voters. He maintained that PTI would thwart every attempt by the MQM to “rig the by-elections”.
Speaking on this occasion, PTI leader Ali Zaidi lashed out at Khawaja Asif for his non-parliamentary language against Imran Khan. “We strongly condemn his (Asif) remarks against Imran Khan,” he said.
“Khawaja Asif should stop being Nawaz Sharif’s darbari (courtier). He has to be answerable to Almighty, not Nawaz Sharif. God willing, we will rid the country of ‘darbaris’.”
‘BRING BHAI BACK’:
In the meanwhile, PTI leader Faisal Wada on Tuesday presented a charge sheet against MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday, saying the latter was an absconder who should be brought back to Pakistan and tried according to law.
Talking to reporters in Karimabad — flanked by PTI’s candidate for NA 246 by-poll Imran Ismail and PTI Sindh President Nadir Leghari — Wada presented three demands in front of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government.
Wada said since Altaf was an “absconder” and a “proclaimed offender”, authorities should issue a red warrant to bring him back to Pakistan so that he could face appropriate legal consequences.
He also demanded that the MQM chief’s assets, including his Azizabad residence — Nine Zero — be seized and that PEMRA implement a ban on airing his speeches.
