The witness who had identified Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Ubaid K-2 in murder case has retraced from his statement before the court.
Instead of identifying Ubaid K-2, he declared someone else as the murderer. Police and Rangers took the accused back after identification parade.
According to details, a case of murdering a police officer was registered with Yousuf Plaza Police Station against Ubaid K-2, who was arrested during Rangers’ raid on MQM headquarter Nine-Zero. Rangers and police officials brought him to the city court in tight security. The suspect’s clothes were changed on the directions of the judicial magistrate.
One of the witnesses was taken into the court for identifying the murderer. On coming out, he claimed that he had identified the person who had shot at the police officer. However, the government’s lawyer told afterwards that the witness got scared during the identification parade and pointed at someone else.
Talking to media on this occasion, Ubaid K-2’s wife and sisters said that Ubaid was innocent and the cases against him were fake.
