The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday awarded ticket to its stalwart Imran Ismail to contest by-elections from NA-246, a traditional stronghold constituency of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

The PTI also demanded deployment of army personnel inside and outside polling stations during the by-polls, which are scheduled to be held on April 23, 2015.

Addressing a press conference, PTI senior leader Arif Alvi said Ismail is one of the founders of PTI. He hoped that PTI will emerge victorious in the NA-246 by elections.

Talking to media, MQM leader Waseem Akhtar said the nation will witness the results in the by-elections. He said Altaf Hussain had earned Muhajirs an identity in the country.

He asked where were the PTI leaders when Muhajirs were under attack and their slaughtering was rampant in the city. He said PTI is the Taliban wing that intends to capture Karachi.

Akhtar claimed that daughter of slain PTI leader Zahra Shahid points at PTI for murder of her mother.

The NA-246 seat had fallen vacant after the resignation of Nabeel Gabol, who also parted ways with the MQM later. Gabol was elected to the assembly from the Azizabad constituency on a ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the May 2013 general elections.

  1. Altar bhai elction strategy is to apologise to people. Altar has admitted himself that he has failed to deliver no matter how many times he has been in government. So a vote for mqm is same old broken promises and more chanda
