The Sindh High Court on Monday rejected a petition against the rescheduling of Secondary School Certificate (classes IX and X) Annual Examinations 2015 for by-polls to National Assembly constituency NA-246 in Karachi.

The petitioner Usman Moazam Siddiqui moved the court nominating provincial secretary education, provincial election commissioner and Board of Secondary Education’s director as respondents.

The petitioner had submitted that ECP has announced a schedule for by-elections to National Assembly constituency NA-246 to be held on April 23. Subsequently, he added, the examination authorities at the request of the ECP revised the schedule for SSC examination to facilitate holding of by-elections.

The authorities announced new schedule whereby SSC examination would start on April 7 and end on April 21 instead of April 25.

The petitioner said that his daughter, who would take the SSC annual examination, and other hundreds of thousand students in the city were suffering great deal of agony because of rescheduling of their exams as it had left little time for them to prepare and revise their courses, practical and other education notes.

Therefore, he pleaded to the court to issue directives for the examination authorities to conduct examination according to previous schedule.
