We Pakistanis, among all other things, severely lack in reading. Poor reading habit results in poor knowledge. Only 27 percent of Pakistan’s total population reads. Most of the teenagers consider the word reading to be associated with nerds and geeks only. Most men and women brand it as a herculean task. Knowing is owning. The problem lies in the educational system of our country. This habit needs to be inculcated in children from a very tender age. Reading classes, assignments and exercises should be made a part of academic curriculum. All developed countries of the world have a strong reading habit. England spends around five million Euros on books every year. This might appear as a very little and unimportant flaw but it massively affects the intellectual level of people.
