“The teachers allowed the candidates to bring cheating material in the exam halls,” BISE Chairman Muhammad Shafi Afridi told sources.
The BISE inspection team visited Islamia Collegiate School, Peshawar where they found candidates referring to cheating material in the presence of teachers during the mathematics paper in hall number 330 and 331 on Saturday, he said.
The inspection team then took action against the teachers on duty and registered complaints against them with the BISE.
Afridi confirmed the suspension and said the BISE committee for examinations will investigate further and if the teachers are found guilty they will be disqualified from performing duties during any examination.
Afridi added four teachers were caught red-handed in hall 330: Wasiullah, an Arabic teacher from Government High School Bela Baramad Khel; Fazal Rabi, Arabic teacher at Government Middle School Khazana Sugar Mills; Muhammad Humayun, teacher for the same subject at Government Middle School Khadad, Peshawar and Ameer Shaheed of Government High School No 3 Peshawar.
Similarly, four more were found involved in the practice in hall 331. They are Muhammad Hamid of Government Primary School Bakhshi Pul, Liaquat Ali of Government High School Pakha Ghulam, Sajidur Rehman of Government Primary School Qadim Dhera Kachori and Maqsood Ahmad of Government High School Chamkani.
The SSC examinations started on March 19 and will continue till April 7. Afridi said since the commencement of exams, their team visits different centres for inspection daily. He added BISE has also got CCTV cameras installed in some centres to regularly monitor them.
Afridi informed other teachers have been sent for duty in halls 330 and 331 at Islamia Collegiate School. He added all the teachers have been warned of suspension and disqualification from duties if they are found guilty of any crime or if a complaint is registered against them.
