In a surprising revelation, one in four Pakistanis have never heard of Dubai, a survey held recently shows.
Despite being the most populous city of the United Arab Emirates and a popular choice for the Pakistani workforce to move to for better jobs and pay, Gallup Pakistan’s recent survey showed that 25% of Pakistanis have never heard of the city.
As per the survey, 72% of Pakistanis said they have heard of Dubai while 3% chose not to respond.
The poll did not clarify how many of those who have heard of the city have travelled to it as well.
Dubai, which is just 1,185 kilometres west of Karachi, is a popular tourist destination for Pakistanis and many own properties and run businesses there.
Gallup Pakistan is a polling agency which frequently carries out surveys. However, it is not affiliated with Gallup International.
The company’s website stated that for the survey “a nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces, was asked ‘Have you heard about Dubai?’ In response to this question, 72% respondents said they have heard about Dubai, while 25% respondents said they have not heard about Dubai and 3% respondents did not respond.”
