Militants attacked the convoy of a senior administration officer and killed two of his guards in Balochistan’s Kharan district on Friday.

Dawood Khan, a levies official, said that armed militants attacked the convoy of Deputy Commissioner Kharan Raziq Dilawary in the Rachil area of the district. Two levies personnel were killed and another two sustained bullet wounds in the attack, he said.

One attacker was killed and another was arrested alive when levies personnel retaliated, Khan said. More levies personnel were called to the area to arrest the assailants.

The levies personnel and armed militants exchanged fire, the levies official said. The injured levies personnel were moved to Quetta for medical treatment. There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.

However, levies officials suspect a Baloch separatist militant group in the area is responsible for the attack.

Earlier this month, two levies personnel were killed in two separate incidents of targeted killings in the Killa Abdullah and Ziarat districts of Balochistan.
