All vacancies of HC, subordinate courts to be filled: SHC CJ

Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Faisal Arab has said that all vacancies of judges in the SHC and the subordinate courts would be filled in order to provide speedy justice to the people.

The chief justice said this while speaking as chief guest at the annual reception hosted in his honour by the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), says official handout issued on late Saturday.

The chief justice informed that after assuming the office he set priority of the appointment of judges on vacant posts in the Sindh High Court and subordinate courts so that the people could get speedy justice at the earliest. The nominations on vacant ex-cadre posts as well as posts of district and sessions judges had been sent to the provincial and federal governments and it was hoped that the notification in this regard would be issued soon, he said.

He said appointment on 39 out of 78 vacant posts of additional district judges would be made in the next one month while 39 more posts would be filled in the month of August this year. Out of 40 vacant posts of senior civil judges, 30 posts would be filled within one month while out of 106 vacant posts of judicial magistrates, 24 would be appointed within one month and 25 in the month of June, 2015, he added. The remaining 57 appointments will be made up to October 2015, he further informed.

The chief justice said 1,300 applications had been received for the posts of additional district judges while 1,700 applications had been received for judicial magistrates. The approval had already been received for appointment of additional 58 posts of district judges, additional district judges, senior civil judges, civil judges and judicial magistrates, he said, adding that after October 2015 more appointments would be made. The process of the appointment on six vacant posts of High Court in Hyderabad, five in Sukkur and three in Larkana, would also be started during the current month, he informed.

The chief justice said that the provincial government would be approached for establishment of anti-terrorists and anti-corruption courts for Ghotki, Mirpurkhas and Thatta. Special attention was also being given to the construction of new buildings and repairing of Taluka Courts in the province, he added.

He said disposal of pending cases in the high court and district courts could only be possible with the cooperation of the Bench and Bar. Earlier, Sindh High Court Bar Association President Nisar Durrani Advocate in his welcome address highlighted the problems being faced by the bar.

Among others, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Ghulam Rasool Memon, Justice Zafar Rajput, Justice Syed Irfan Saadat, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, Sindh Bar Council Vice Chairman Ziaul Hassan Linjar and High Court Registrar Faheem Siddiqui also attended the annual reception.
