Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo has disclosed that PPP candidate Rai Shah Jehan Bhatti had written to the Election Commission of Pakistan demanding to take action against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for blatant violation of electoral code of conduct and pleaded her disqualification.

He said that the PML-N local leadership and administration of District Nankana were engaged in committing illegal and unconstitutional activity of grabbing of Baba Guru Nanak landed property which was under the administrative control of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and attached to shrine of the guru.

He further said that the PML-N supporters had instigated the local people of Nankana to take the possession of the land with clear understanding that they would vote in favour of the ruling party’s candidate.

He pointed out that this was being done under the nose of district administration that was looking to the other side, adding that it clearly pointed out that all was being undertaken with the connivance of the local leadership of the PML-N.

He maintained that it was a blatant violation of the laws of the Evacuee Trust Property stating that the deputy administrator and the fifty employees of the trust had tendered resignations to the chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board as a protest over this gross violation.

It calls for immediate necessary action on the part of the Election Commission of Pakistan as impartiality and credibility of the elections are at stake, he concluded.
