NAB arrests Satti for embezzling housing society funds

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi has arrested main accused Shaheen Ahmed Satti of Senate of Pakistan in Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad on alleged charges of corruption and corrupt practices/cheating public at large, mis-utilization and embezzlement of the society’s funds.

The accused Shaheen Ahmed Satti, son of Muhammad Afzal Khan, in connivance with Syed Mussarat Abbas Shah Naqvi, Additional Secretary Senate of Pakistan and Muhammad Akram of Senate of Pakistan in Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad in cheated public at large in funds of the society and deprived them of millions of their hard earn money, said a press release issued on Saturday.

Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested other accused Syed Mussarat Abbas Shah Naqvi, Additional Secretary Senate of Pakistan and Muhammad Akram in Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad on charges of corruption and corrupt practices/cheating public at large.

The NAB had received complaint regarding gross irregularities pointed out in audit report. It was alleged in the complaint that the members of ex-management of Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad were responsible for mis-utilization and embezzlement of the funds of the society.

The major points raised in audit report were incomplete books of accounts, failure on the part of ex-management and ex-purchase committee to hold its meetings, indulging of society management in litigation cases and committing irregularities in purchase of land.

The accused are alleged for mis-utilization and embezzlement in funds of Senate Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad amounting to Rs. 92 million approximately.
