Post price-cut hoarding leads to cooking oil scarcity in Rawalpindi, Shahbaz directs Rana Sanaullah to negotiate with mill owners
After the Punjab chief minister’s announcement for de-escalation of cooking oil prices in the province, hoarders are in business, causing scarcity of ghee and cooking oil in Rawalpindi.
The government failed to lower prices of cooking oil in Rawalpindi along with other cities of the province. The hoarders in the whole sale market have cut off the supply of vegetable oil leading to its scarcity in Gawalmandi, Dhoke Hassu, Bani, Khayban-e-Sir Syed and other areas.
The people have urged the government to implement the revised prices in accordance with the announcement made earlier. They said that the hoarders and illicit profiteers have created a shortage of cooking oil due to de-escalated prices.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has handed over the task of negotiations with the ghee mill owners to PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah.
According to sources, the mill owners will negotiate with Rana Sanaullah regarding the upcoming scarcity of oil and ghee in the province and implementation of price-cut as announced by the government.
Ghee and oil disappeared fast from the shelves in Punjab as government’s decision to cut back the price of ghee by record Rs 15 per kilo has triggered a hoarding trend in the province, retailers said.
