The persistent gas shortage in different areas of Rawalpindi has made life miserable for the poor people as they are forces to purchase costly firewood or gas cylinders to prepare their two time meal.

Some of the house wives interviewed in Khayban-e-Sir Syed said they were expecting that with improvement in weather, the gas supply would start in March but still they are without this basic utility. They said that despite complaints, the SNGPL is paying no heed to their miseries.

On the other hand, they said that they are regularly receiving gas bills and the charges are more than last year.

The irked house wives appealed the prime minister and Punjab chief minister to have pity on their sufferings and order the authorities to at least ensure gas supply for domestic consumers. An angered lady said if there is shortage is gas, it should be equally shared by people of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. She said that posh localities of Rawalpindi have excess gas supply round the clock while there was no shortage in Islamabad throughout the winter season.
