Banned organisation Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Sindh’s chief was killed on Monday along with three other terrorists during a clash with Rangers.
A joint search operation was conducted in Surjani Town by Rangers and police. The terrorists fired at the security officers during the operation. The officers responded back to the firing resulting in deaths of four terrorists. However, three terrorists managed to escape.
Rangers Spokesperson confirmed that TTP Sindh’s chief Abid Chotu was among the dead. A suicide jacket and grenades were found in possession of the terrorists. The suspects were plotting a huge act of terrorism in Karachi. Others were identified as his second-in-command Rehmanuddin alias ‘Lala’, Amjad Khan and Sardar Rab Khan – all members of the TTP Sajna group in Karachi.
Security forces said that two Rangers personnel were also injured in the shootout. ‘Chota Abid’ was involved in planning and executing several terrorist attacks in Karachi, said the security personnel. Meanwhile, police carried out a raid on a suspected den of a local criminal gang known as ‘Danger Group’ in Quaidabad.
Police said the miscreants opened fire as they raided the den, and two criminals were killed in the clash. Sher Azam, a known criminal of ‘Danger group’ was also killed. Police said the miscreants were involved in murder, extortion, and several other serious crimes in the city.
TWO DIE IN MISHAPS
Two persons were died in two separate mishaps on Tuesday.
Shafique, 60, son of Rehman, resident of Bilal Colony, died when a fast-moving vehicle hit him on Shahrah-e-Faisal road. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. In another incident, a youth, Noman, died after falling from the roof of his house near Ambreen Tower in SeaView area. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy.
ONE INJURED IN LYARI FIRING
A man was shot at and injured in Lyari on Tuesday. A man, Riaz, 60, son of Samandar Khan, was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near Lyari Meera Naka. He was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
SIUT CATCHES FIRE
A small fire broke out on the roof top of Hanifa Sulaiman block of SIUT on Tuesday morning without causing any damage or any loss of lives or property.
All patients’ services were safe and SIUT is functioning normally, says a SIUT release, adding the fire was immediately extinguished by a fire tender which reached the spot in time.
