Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan has said that there is a major scope for halal trade even in the countries which do not have Muslim majority.
The minister was addressing the 4th international halal conference and exhibition jointly organised by Punjab Halal Development Agency, USAID Punjab Enabling Environment Project and Halal Research Council at a local hotel on Tuesday.
Sikandar said that Pakistan could serve as “Halal Kitchen” in the world, adding that the government would continue its support for the promotion of Halal industry.
He noted that the conference was being attended by many stakeholders, leading national and international companies.”National, regional and global experiences will not only enhance the knowledge but also equip the participants with information which would ultimately help them in improving and strengthening the Halal sector”, he added.
The minister stressed that Halal standards need to be introduced in all the chains of Halal products for its promotion.
Later, briefly talking to mediapersons Sikandar Bosan said that an authority was being constituted for Halal certification as well as regulation of Halal products.”There is a strong potential of Halal products in the Middle East countries”, the Minister added.
The conference would conclude on March 11.
