The Supreme Court (SC) has sought reply from the government in Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) employees’ pension case besides adjourning the hearing of the case for two weeks.
A three-member SC bench headed by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali took up the case for hearing Tuesday.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Sajid Bhatti appeared in the court and told that if pension of the employees is increased then this amount grows so much that the EOBI is feared to go bankrupt completely in 2015.
“We do want an increase in the salary of poor employees but we don’t want EOBI goes bankrupt. Are the expenses so much that the matter will not be resolved? Estimate of EOBI land be got worked out correctly,” court remarked, seeking reply from government within two weeks and adjourned the hearing of the case.
