Police arrest 80 in Kohat crackdown, three suspects arrested in Dera Bugti, 188 suspects arrested, 51 Afghans detained in KP, Jamshoro Police arrest three terrorists with 60kg explosives
Police arrested 57 suspects including four Afghans and two wanted suspects from Kohat and surrounding areas on Sunday. The arrests come as part of an ongoing effort to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) and crackdown on suspicious activities in the province.
As many as 23 more were arrested for violation of Section 144– an act dealing with unlawful assembly, provocative speech, assembly of more than five people at a time, and the illegal use of loudspeakers. Police also recovered arms from the suspects.
Within the past week alone, a Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander and militants were arrested by security forces in Hangu and Bannu.
Investigations have also been conducted into the registration and financing of seminaries, revealing over 700 unregistered seminaries in KP, of which 145 were classified ‘highly sensitive’, while 147 Punjab seminaries were found to be foreign-funded.
FC ON A MISSION:
In the meanwhile, three suspects with arms were arrested by Frontier Corps in Dera Bugti on Sunday.
According to FC spokesman, a search operation was launched against criminals in different areas of Dera Bugti. During the operation three suspects were arrested. The FC also recovered two submachine guns, seven magazines, 279 rounds and other arms from them.
Moreover, in Kohlu FC troops defused an IED planted along road side Sunday. The IED was planted along road used for public transport.
AFGHANS UNDER THE NET:
Furthermore, KP Police during ongoing search operation throughout the province against criminals and anti-social elements has rounded up 188 suspects and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition from their possession.
According to details, KP police conducted search operation in various areas of the province and recovered 36 arms and ammunition of different kind and 418 rounds of different bores.
During the operation 462 houses and 297 hotels were checked and 21 cases were registered against the violators. During snap checking on 126 check points, 257 suspects were arrested and 3 arms of different kind and 8 cartridges of different bore were recovered.
Similarly action against illegal Afghans a total of 51 Afghans were detained on violation and 18 cases were registered against them.
Security inspections of 762 educational institutions were also carried out and 5 cases were registered on poor security arrangements.
JAMSHORO POLICE IN ACTION:
In the meanwhile, the Jamshoro Police in a successful raid on the Super Highway arrested three terrorists and recovered a huge cache of arms from their possession on Sunday.
According to reports, police was informed that a large quantity of explosive was being smuggled to Karachi for terrorist activities.
After the information, police started strict checking on the Super Highway. When the police stopped a suspected rickshaw near the Jamshoro toll plaza, the accused tried to flee but were over powered by the police.
Jamshoro SSP Naeem Sheikh said the explosive material weighing 60 kilogram was transported from Peshawar through a truck and shifted in a rickshaw at Hala to avoid checking. He said three terrorists who were identified as Saleem Shah, Fareen Shah and Jabbar Shah were also arrested and further investigation was in progress.
