The commandant of the Sihala Police Training Academy has been accused of involvement in ‘immoral activities’, a news channel reported on Saturday.

According to the channel, the commandant allegedly sent trainee female officers at the academy to some guest houses on pretext of ‘holiday’. The channel accused the government of trying to brush the matter under the carpet by replacing SP Maria, the police official investigating the allegations, with SP Mohsin Ali, allegedly a close aide of the commandant. The channel claimed that SP Maria had confirmed that female trainees were taken to guest houses.

IG Punjab Police, Mushtaq Sukhera has reportedly sent Additional IG Naseemuz Zaman to Rawalpindi to probe the issue and submit a report in this regard.

The channel claimed that the commandant of the Sihala Police Academy has also faced corruption enquiries in Lahore and Multan yet the influential police officer has always been able to save his skin because of his political connections.

The channel did not report the commandant’s version on the allegations made against him.

  1. Such police officers should be sacked. In USA the head of CIA and former Commander of US Forces Gen Patreaus was forced to resign on far milder accusations.
