The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will announce its verdict on Mumtaz Qadri’s appeal against his death sentence in a case regarding the murder of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer on Monday.
The verdict will be announced by a division bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) had awarded death sentence to Qadri for assassinating Taseer in broad daylight. IHC Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman and Justice Mohammad Anwar had stayed Qadri’s death sentence.
The division bench had reserved its verdict over the appeal last month.
He must be freed immediately. He enjoys overwhelming support of the majority and in any democracy, majority is the authority.
