Families of the victims who died in the deadly blast in an imambargah in Shikarpur demanded an army operation in the city after their arrival in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Led by members of the Shuhada Committee, the families started their march from Shikarpur on Sunday afternoon.
Women dressed in black sat with solemn faces and shouted that they wanted the criminals to be punished.
“We will keep sitting here till we get justice. Madrassa’s run by terrorists in our area should be searched and operations should be carried out,” said a woman while holding pictures of her two deceased nephews and a cousin.
Meanwhile, 15 members of the Shuhada Committee met a delegation from the Pakistan People’s Party at the CM House and presented their demands.
Some 2,000 protesters made their way to Karachi along with the deputy secretary of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Amin Shaheedi, chairperson of the Shuhada Committee Allama Maqsood Domki and others.
The protesters vowed not to leave till Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced an operation and arrest of the criminals. They have also pleaded for a ban on religious outfits and an operation against Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ).
Food camps were set up at Numaish Chowrangi and facilities to make phone calls have also been set up.
MWM leader Ameen Shaheedi said that writ of state seemed to be present nowhere in either Peshawar or any other city across Pakistan.
The blast hit the imambargah in the Shikarpur district as hundreds of worshipers attended Friday prayers. Police confirmed the explosion to be a suicide attack.
ROADS BLOCKED:
Meanwhile, several containers have been placed in the red zone and on the road leading to the Chief Minister House as a precautionary measure ahead of the planned sit-in.
The city administration has imposed section 144 for one month in various sensitive locations of the city including the Governor’s House, Assembly Secretariat, CM House, Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, Mohammad Bin Qasim Road, Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Fresco and PIDC Road.
The administration has also banned rallies and protests near Bilawal House, Abdullah Shah Ghazi Road, Beach View Park and Khayaban-e-Saadi. The families of the victims arrived in Karachi from Shikarpur last night and are camping at Numaish Chowrangi area.
