Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Monday arrived in Karachi and made a visit to the Rangers Headquarters to review the security situation.
He was briefed by Director-General Rangers Karachi, Major General Bilal Akbar.
Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), through his Twitter handle, said that Gen. Raheel appreciated the efforts of the law-enforcing agencies and ensured that Pakistan Army will be extending full support to conduct security operations in Karachi in order to bring peace and stability to the city.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef also arrived in Karachi and met the COAS, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, and Corps Commander Lieutenant General Navid Mukthar, to deliberate upon the security issues in the city. They discussed matters pertaining to National Action Plan and 2012’s Baldia Town factory fire case that took over 260 lives.
PM Sharif appreciated the intelligence-based security operation being carried out in North Waziristan, as well as Karachi.

The PM is also scheduled to chair Sindh Apex Committee and meet with the members of the Sindh-ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
