Pakistan Sunni Tehrik calls for ban on celebrations of Valentine Day
“Modesty Day” was observed all over the country on February 14 on the eve of Valentine’s Day on the appeal of Pakistan Sunni Tehrik (PST) chief Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri.
Ceremonies were held highlighting the different aspects of Islamic civilization and culture, Islamic values and modesty and training workshops were organized to enlighten the youths on Islamic values.
Addressing a protest rally here a Chokhar Chowk held against Valentine day, Sunni Tehrik divisional president Mufti Liaqat Rizvi said, “Valentine Day is becoming means for promoting obscenity in the country. Culture of modesty be promoted and generalized to curb indecency and immodesty. Valentine Day is a tool in the hands of West to tempt Muslim youths towards perversion. There is no room for Un-Islamic festival like Valentine day in an Islamic country.”
The speakers warned that western civilization is being imposed on the country in the name of Valentine Day. “Valentine day is not an Islamic festival; therefore, government should ban it forthwith.”
“Adhering to our culture and civilization we should stay away from this festival of obscenity and immorality. Revival of Islamic civilization in homes, bazaars, educational institutions and every section of life is need of hour,” they held.
“Plasticizing adultery and immorality is tantamount to invoke scourge of Almighty Allah,” they cautioned. Promoting depravity in Muslim societies and ending stable family system is the nefarious agenda being pursued by the advocates of degenerated civilization of West, they added.
