Water experts have warned of a water crisis in the federal capital as the level of underground water has plunged further due to illegal boring.

Experts said that Islamabad residents could face a severe water shortage during summers if the underground water dipped any further due to illegal boring.

Sources in the CDA said that in some places tube-wells have stopped pumping out water as water levels have plunged to an all time low.

The sources further said that residents of sectors I-8, 9, and 10 are already facing water scarcity and they mostly rely on tube-wells to extract water.

Water experts said that the city could find itself in the grip of a water crisis if the authorities did not take urgent steps. The CDA has so far failed to put in place a strategy to conserve water resources and stop illegal boring.
