Days after a two-member committee held the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) responsible for the petrol crisis in the country, the Petroleum Ministry on Wednesday dissolved the PSO management board and sent OGRA Chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan on a forced leave of three months.

Rejecting the committee’s findings, OGRA argued that maintaining stocks was a duty of the director-general of the Oil and the Petroleum Ministry.

On January 21, the prime minister suspended PSO’s deputy managing director finance Sohail Bhatti. Earlier, he had removed Petroleum Secretary Abid Saeed, Additional Petroleum Secretary Naeem Malik, DG Oil CM Azam and PSO’s acting Managing Director Amjad Janjua.
