Female teachers protested here on Saturday to demand that the concerned authorities regularise the payment of a minimum monthly stipend. They orchestrated a demonstration and chanted slogans against the authorities over the issue.
The participants of the demonstration held in D-Chowk were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans touting their demands. A heavy police contingent was deployed to stop the protestors from entering the Red Zone.
The protestors said that teachers who have a Masters degree in various subjects were paid only Rs. 7,500 per month, while they were paid nothing during winter and summer vacations, and during other gazetted holidays, occasional or accidental leaves.
They demanded that the federal government increase their monthly salaries and regularise them.
