The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The petition, submitted by former diplomat Asif Aizdi, pleads that Nawaz Sharif had spoken against ideology of Pakistan on August 13, 2011 at a seminar in Lahore.

The commission, while dismissing the plea, asked the petitioner to contact the speaker National Assembly over the issue, saying that the matter was out of the ECP’s jurisdiction.
