Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi has said Pakistan wants cordial relations with all the countries in the region on the basis of mutual respect.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of a Research Paper at the Karachi Council on Foreign Relations. The research paper focused on “Reviving Historical Trade Routes” particularly the Silk Road being the Gateway to China.
Fatemi said Pakistan and China hold a unique and unusual understanding at the government and public level as its relationship is time tested.
In a message on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said the revival of Silk Trade Route can benefit the entire region.
The ambassador also referred to a proposal forwarded by Chinese President Xi Jinping last year to build the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. He said the two countries have strengthened cooperation in the fields of energy and infrastructure.
