UN chief asks Pakistani authorities to ‘redouble efforts’ to protect religious minorities

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday asked Pakistani authorities to “redouble their efforts to protect religious and ethnic minorities.”

Condemning the attack on Imambargah in Shikarpur,UN chief in a statement extended his condolence to the families of deceased.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary-General’s spokesperson, UN chief was “appalled by such vicious targeting of people on account of their religious affiliation”.

Yesterday,the Karbala-e-Moalla Imambargah in the Lakhidar area of Shikarpur came under deadly attack, taking away lives of around 60 worshipers and many were injured.

At least 300 people were inside the the double-storey compound of the Imambargah when the bomb went off.
