PESHAWAR-

Prime Minister(PM) Nawaz Sharif on Friday approved a grant of Rs 30.6 million for the treatment abroad of an injured student of the Army Public School, private media reported.

Ahmad Nawaz, 15, is a student of grade nine and was shot by militants on December 16 when Taliban gunmen stormed into an army-run school in Peshawar, killing 150 people, including 132 children.

The 15-year-old is currently admitted at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where doctors have renounced the treatment saying that the required facility is not available at LRH, showing their apprehensions that Ahmed might lose his limb.

Earlier, Ahmad’s father angered at the politician’s behavior for discriminately treating his son, making a comparison with Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.

While talking to media, he said “Both (Malala and Ahmad) are victims of terror attacks. But my son is still crying for help.”

Expressing his helplessness, he said that he has already lost a son and doesn’t have the courage to see another one incapacitated.

“He (Ahmad) wakes up after every two hours and starts crying from the pain, but the only thing doctors at LRH do is give him painkillers,” complained Muhammad Nawaz.

“My son has dreams just like other children. He has a career to make and I will not let these politicians ruin his dreams,”he added.

The provincial government has already announced a sum of Rs 3.5 million for Ahmad’s treatment in England, while the federal government had also announced to shift him to any other hospital in the world. However, the family is yet to receive the sum promised by the provincial government.
