QUETTA-

Militants abducted five coal miners from Quetta’s Sorenge area on Tuesday, private media reported.

According to security sources, unknown armed men kidnapped seven miners belonging to the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation in Quetta’s Sorenge area.

Later on, kidnappers released two coal miners while others were still in their abduction.

“Five coal miners are still with kidnappers,” police said adding that “The number of kidnappers was yet to be confirmed.”

Security forces reached the site and started a research operation to recover abductees.

No one has yet claimed the responsibility of the kidnapping.

Balochistan, largest province of Pakistan, is riddled with separatist insurgencies.

The separatists, along with other arguments, yield the reason  that the province is not given its due share of the province’s energy and mineral wealth.
