Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Sunday said he was not responsible for the massive countrywide blackout as it was an outcome of the security situation currently prevalent in the country.

Talking to a news channel, Asif said that terrorists launched three attacks on gas pipelines in just two days. During the two previous nights, they (the militants) destroyed pipelines through which gas is supplied to Uch power plant, he added.

The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) made arrangements on an emergency basis to keep the power supply in order but the unidentified assailants struck again between the night of Saturday and Sunday.

He, however, said repairs are being made and the electricity crisis will be overcome soon.

  1. You idiot! This is the height of incompetence and lack of accountability. Your whole national grid shouldn’t collapse because of sabotage on one tower. Build resilience and better management.
