Opposition leaders in Sindh slammed the Sindh government on Friday for the poor governance and absence of democracy in the province.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Friday slammed the Sindh government, saying there is no democracy in the province.

Talking to media outside the Sindh Assembly, Rahim called for better governance in the province.

“Sindh needs better political system that can be beneficial for the people”.

The PML-Q leader said that he agreed with MQM Chairman Altaf Hussain who said that there was no democracy in Sindh. He also said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders Khursheed Shah, Rehman Malik and others had requested him to join their party but he had refused.

Criticising the PPP-led provincial government over its poor performance in Thar, Rahim said that opposition parties would constitute a separate parliamentary committee over Thar crisis.

Separately, opposition leader and former Sindh CM Liaquat Ali Jatoi lashed out at the PPP government, saying it has failed in fulfilling its basic responsibilities.

“Diseases like Hepatitis B and C are common as there are no basic health facilities for the people,” he told media.

Jatoi said that the government through its bad governance was paving the way for imposition of martial law.

MEMON LASHES OUT AT RAHIM, JATOI:

Lashing out at the criticism by the two opposition leaders, Sindh Information Minister and PPP leader Sharjeel Memon challenged the democratic credentials of both Rahim and Jatoi, alleging that both of them came to power with the support of dictators.

“Arbab Rahim and Liaquat Jatoi were introduced in the politics by dictators,” he added.

Talking to media outside the Sindh Assembly, Memon said that incidents like the attack on PPP leader Benazir Bhutto at Karzaz and May 12 killings took place when Rahim was the CM of Sindh.

To a question, the minister said that criticism was always welcome but it should be constructive.
