From Extreme cleavage to glittering metallic’s and ever the lovely use of winter white the 2015 Golden Globes featured more hits then misses on the red carpet. And to put is out there everyone (for the most part) looked quite nice and well put together. Here is a rundown of the top trends that emerged from the January 11th event and our favorites.
Metallic and everything shiny!
As a writing duo we don’t always agree but the one thing both of us adored this red carpet was all the bling. Keeping in line with 2104 winter fashion and what is predicted to be ‘in’ this spring many actresses wore show stopping metallic dresses.
Our favorite looks featuring this trend were the dazzling Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein, Kate Beckinsale in a breathtaking Elie Saab gown and Dakota Johnson in Chanel.
Urban Glamour
A lot of pre globe predictions had hinted that we would be seeing a trend of starlets in dresses that mixed fabrics and craftsmanship in looks that were both hard and soft. We were very pleased to see this actualized, as the effect was stunning. To explain this trend simply designers mixed elements that we consider hard like metal and certain shapes with cuts and materials that were feminine and flowy.
We especially liked Michelle Monaghan in Jason Wu and Diane Kruger in a liquid-silver Emilia Wickstead creation.
Black and White
We love our blacks. Our favorites were Taryn Manning in an edgy black Oscar de la Renta. This gown had a little too much fabric but she pulled it off with elegance and the ever-beautiful Jennifer Aniston rocked the red carpet in a sexy Saint Laurent slit dress.
And we love our whites; one of the biggest trends this year was the Grecian white. And there was lot of it on the red carpet: Rosamund Pike, Selena Gomez and Kate Hudson to name a few ladies that trend anything but boring. None pulled it off better than Emily Blunt who looked like a proper goddess is a peek-a-boo Michael Kors.
The epic and glorious return of the pantsuit
We are coming around to the ‘pantsuit at the red carpet’ look (though only in its elevated formal reincarnation). Lorde in Narciso Rodriguez paired with Neil Lane jewelry to give it that red carpet glamour and Emma Stone in tailored pants and embellished crop top by Lanvin combo were both dramatic and fantastic.
The Best Dressed
- Jennifer Lopez looks absolutely gorgeous in Zuhair Murad. JLo flaunted her extreme cleavage with no apology or hesitation and was styled to perfection. The color, the slit, the cut – everything flattered her already perfect body.
- Julianne Moore in Givenchy Couture with shiny sequins, ruffles and fringe. The red head was sparkling from head to toe and lit up the red carpet. We loved this look on her because it was fun and flirty and yet some how managed to retain sophistication.
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a bright white Narciso Rodriguez gown and Kimberly McDonald jewelry looked simple and stunning. She is a regular fashion delight and we expected nothing less than perfection from her. We loved the overall simplicity of her gown and just plain good taste.
