ISLAMABAD-
Following th government’s decision to ban Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Haqanni Network and 11 other organisation, the bank accounts of JuD have been frozen and the JuD leader Hafiz Saeed will now be facing travel restrictions, according to the Foreign Office of Pakistan.
The FO spokesperson Tasneem Shaikh, responding to a query in a weekly press briefing, said that Pakistan took the action in the light of the United Nation’s proscription of JuD and other outfits, for national interest, and not under pressure from any other force.
She said that the banned outfit Haqqani network does not hold any bank accounts in the country.
JuD, running an extensive philanthropic network across Pakistan, is a sister organisation of banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba which has been is suspected, by India and USA, of being involved in 2008’s Mumbai attacks.
