The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the subordinate court to complete trial of Hamesh Khan accused in Bank of Punjab (BoP) case within two months.
The court observed that Hamesh Khan trial be finalised within two months, adding that therefore, there is no need to hear his bail plea at present.
A three-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Anwar Zahir Jamali took up the case for hearing Monday.
Azam Nazir Tarar, counsel for the accused appeared in the case and said that his client was kept in jail for the past five years while all other culprits have been set free.
The accused is not liable to undergo such a long jail for the charges levelled against him, said the counsel.
FIA’s counsel requested the court not to accept the bail plea of the accused. He assured the court that trial of Hamesh Khan will be completed within two months.
The court, while accepting the plea of FIA rejected bail plea of Hamesh Khan besides directing the subordinate court to complete the trial of the accused within two months.
The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.
