ISLAMABAD-

Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar on Monday strongly denied that his ministry was responsible for the ongoing petrol crisis in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtukhwa.

Earlier today, Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi,  in a briefing to the Prime Minister, had solely blamed the Ministry of Finance for the crisis, adding that it had not released funds to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) on time.

Dar, addressing a press conference, denied Abbasi’s allegation.

“We have no business with PSO. The  finance ministry does not owe a single penny to PSO as of now,” he said.

He said that it was the responsibility of the Ministry of Water and Power to recover its dues and make payments to the PSO, adding the finance ministry steps in only when its help is sought.

The finance minister further added that he does not want to involve himself in any blame game and that the names of those responsible for the event will soon be found out in the meeting headed by the PM.
