ICCI to take Islamabad market unions on board to resolve traders’ woes

A 20-member delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCl) led by the chamber’s President Muzammil Hussain Sabri visited G-8 Markaz Islamabad to congratulate Traders Welfare Association President Iftikhar Shahzada President, General Secretary Hameed Kiani and other newly-elected office bearers of the traders’ association.

Speaking at the occasion, Sabri expressed hope that the newly-elected office bearers of G-8 Markaz Traders Association would play a positive role in resolving the issues of local traders.

He said that ICCI has developed close liaison with market unions to take them on board on key issues of business community and make joint efforts for redressing the same. He assured that ICCI would provide all possible cooperation and support to G-8 Markaz market union in efforts made for the welfare of traders.

ICCI Founder Group Chairman Abdul Rauf and United Business Group North Zone chairman also congratulated the new office bearers of G-8 Markaz and urged that market unions should strengthen the hands of ICCI because “only with strong unity, the business community would be able to ensure better protection of its rights”.

He said that ICCI in collaboration with trade unions will work with CDA, FBR, IESCO and other departments concerned for urgent solution of business community problems.

Traders Welfare Association’s president and general secretary highlighted the problems being faced by the traders of the area. They said that roads, footpaths, toilets and sewerage system in the G-8 business centre were not in good condition due to which businessmen and visitors were facing many difficulties and stressed that CDA should pay urgent attention to resolve these problems.

They said that the best approach to revive economic activities was to create good conditions for the growth of business activities and stressed that the government should give top priority to create conducive business environment. They also assured full cooperation to ICCI in its efforts to promote the interests of trade and industry.
