*Ordinance empowers authorities to punish whoever sympathises with terrorists
The Punjab government on Tuesday decided to promulgate an ordinance to punish the culprits who support terrorism in any way or comment against the operation to counter terrorism.
According to reports, the government is willing to punish any person who comments in favour of terrorism or against the operation by the security agencies to counter terrorism. The convict could be imprisoned for as many as six months to one year.
According to the ordinance, the imams of all the mosques would be bound to record the addresses including the Friday sermons and handover that recording to the local police station.
Moreover, only government authorised company would prepare the uniforms of the officials of the security agencies. The ordinance would be sent to Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar within next 24 hours.
