Govt’s call, health for all!

Law, Finance, Excise and Taxation Provincial Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said Thursday that the provision of modern health facilities to all segments of the society was a top priority of the government, adding that the budget for health sector had been gradually increased.

The minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the first phase of the lawyers’ hospital on Dev Samaj Road Lahore where Lahore Bar Association President Chaudhry Muhammad Ishtiaq, Chaudhry Saleem Ladi, Qaseem Aslam Hanjra and a large number of lawyers were present on the occasion.

“The grant of Rs 30 million has been provided on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the construction of the lawyers’ hospital,” said the minister, adding that the process of provision of funds would be continued in the future as well.

The minister said that lawyers have played an important role in the provision of justice to the people and the government attached due importance to their welfare.

The minister said that the provision of modern health and educational facilities was the priority of the government and funds of Rs 2 billion had been provided for achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

“Rs 8,750 million have been provided for the provision of free medicines to poor patients while Rs 600 million is being spent on the provision of free medicines and dialysis facilities to kidney patients,” said the minister.
