LAHORE-

The execution of  murder convict, and member of banned outfit Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) Ikramul Haq was delayed at the eleventh hour on Thursday following a last-minute pardon by the victim’s family, private media reported.

Haq was scheduled to be hanged early Thursday morning at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail for conviction in killings at an Imam Bargah in Jhang district in 2001. His death warrant was issued a few days ago.

Haq’s counsel Advocate Ghulam Mustafa confirmed to the media that the aggrieved party has come to terms with them and pardoned Haq. The two sides approached the Judicial Magistrate Imran Ishaq and requested to stay the execution.

The accused will now be tried in a high trial court.

  1. What a shame on whichever family that pardoned this Animal! Only question is for much money? I say this as Raymond Davis and the sold out Karachi inspector whose son was killed by the Jatoi Scum cases come to mind.

  2. Family pardoned him for certain reasons that will never be entertained by the court. This is the problem with paki judicial system.
