LAHORE-

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed by police on Monday against seven unknown persons for attacking the vigil in memory of slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, private media reported.

Following the filing of the FIR  at Gulberg police station, 22 suspects have been taken into custody for interrogation.

On Sunday, miscreants attacked a candle light vigil arranged by civil society members at Liberty Roundabout to  mark the death anniversary of Taseer.  The attackers snatched and tore up placards, threatening media men and injuring some of the participants in the act.

They managed to flee the scene before arrival of the police.

The slain Punjab governor was shot dead by his own guard  Mumtaz Qadri in December 2011 in Islamabad for demanding amendments in the Blasphemy Law.
