The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has decreased urban public transport fare by more than seven percent in wake of the recent reduction in petroleum prices.
In accordance with the instructions of the Punjab government, LTC has reduced the intra-city fares of non air-conditioned diesel buses by Rs 1 to Rs 3 with respect to the distance whereas the minimum fare will be Rs 12.
Similarly, in LOV public service vehicles such as mini buses, wagons, etcetera the fare is reduced by Rs 1 to Rs 2 at various stages on urban routes.
Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister and LTC Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan has said that reduction in petroleum prices will make a significant impact on the prices of essential items and public transport fares.
He said that it is the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to provide prompt relief to the common man, adding that a public-friendly government represents the true aspirations of the people.
The LTC chairman said that the Punjab government will implement the recent decrease in public transport fare for speedy relief to the masses.
In the meanwhile, LTC CEO Haider Latif has directed the enforcement staff to proceed against public service vehicles who are “overcharging the transport fare”. Moreover, people can register their complaints regarding any overcharging of public transport fare on the LTC helpline number as well as on the company’s mobile complaint number.
“LTC will carry on its mission to provide efficient and safe transport facilities to the general public,” said the transport company’s head.
