A day earlier, a local court in Islamabad had remanded Lakhvi in police keeping for two days in a kidnapping case after a second First Information report (FIR) was registered against him at the Golra Police Station in Islamabad.

According to the First FiR, Lakhvi is being charged for involvement in the kidnapping of a man named Anwar six and a half years ago.

While the legal counsel of Lakhvi Advocate Rizwan Abbasi maintained in the petition that the FIR against his client has no grounds and all is being done due to the pressure from India.

Previously, on December 18 an anti terrorism court (ATC) granted bail to the alleged mastermind of the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai which sparked outrage of India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After that ruling, the Islamabad administration detained him under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order.Subsequently, he challenged his detention in the IHC  which on Monday had suspended his detention and set bail terms.
