Document Registration made mandatory for Public Transport in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has made it mandatory from the January 1, 2015 for the transporters plying vehicles between Rawalpindi and Islamabad to get registered the particular of their transport.

A database will be established for the documents of driver, vehicles as well as violation of traffic rules. Route permits and licenses of those will be cancelled who were found continuously violating the traffic rules.

Chief Traffic Officer Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said that a “Document Register” is compulsory for public service vans and it is responsibility of every driver to enter model of van, engine number, Chasis number, name of driver, name of the father of driver, address, issue and expiry date of fitness certificate of van and start and end of the time of route in this “Document Register”.

CTO told the media that the purpose of this action is to avoid any misunderstanding during checking of the documents while traveling, get the information from the register, complete the route and to get the information of driver and conductor in case of any accident if they escape from the scene.

He said that this “Document Register” will be with every public service vehicle from January 2015 and head of concerned police sector can check any time. In case of non availability of the “Document Register” strict action will be taken against the driver and the owner of the van.
