Over 2,000 small sized surgical hammering and forging units in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur and surrounding areas have been lying closed due to 18 to 20 hours long load shedding of gas in Sialkot region.
This nasty situation has crippled surgical industry of Sialkot which has reached on the verge of collapse and has become unbearable for the Sialkot-based surgical instruments manufactures, vendors and exporters in Sialkot.
The perturbed Sialkot surgical exporters and manufacturers said that despite the repeated appeals made by them, the SNGPL has not yet given any relief to them. They said that energy crisis was increasing day by day in Sialkot due to which the industrial wheel had completely jammed.
Muhammad Jehangir Bajwa (former chairman Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan-SIMAP) has expressed grave concern over this worst situation.
He demanded early exemption of Sialkot’s surgical industry from gas and power outages following its global industrial and economical significance to save the Sialkot surgical industry from collapse.
He revealed that over 2,000 of the small industrial surgical hammering and forging units in and around the Sialkot city had already been closed by the owners due to the non-availability of the gas. He said hundreds of thousands of the industrial workers had already been rendered jobless in such critical situation.
