Afghan army chief General Sher Muhammad Karimi and US-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander General John Campbell held a high level meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday, a private news channel reported.

In an unusual move, Afghan army chief and ISAF Commander traveled together to Pakistan for a meeting with the army chief.

According to the Inter-Services Press Release (ISPR), the military leaders mourned over  Peshawar school attack.

Military spokesperson Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the issue of joint operation in Pak-Afghan border areas and the mechanism of intelligence sharing was discussed in the meeting.

He further said that the two leaders appreciated successful Zarb-e-Azb operation and appreciated Pakistan’s achievements saying that terrorists in North Waziristan have been “seriously degraded”.

The crucial visit comes a week after General Raheel Sharif traveled to Kabul seeking decisive action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s hideouts including its escaped commander Mullah Fazlullah in Afghanistan.
