Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Tuesday confirmed the selection of Misbah-ul-Haq as captain of the team in the World Cup, private media reported.
Addressing a press conference at the Women’s Cricket Championship in Lahore, he said “Misbah’s performance is very good, he has broken world records against teams such as Australia. He has always played.”
Talking about the suspected bowling action of all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and spinner Saeed Ajmal, PCB Chairman said “we want both of them to play in the World Cup.They are going to Chennai, where both of them will undergo informal testing.”
Answering a question about retirement of Shahid Afridi Shaharyar said, “it is Shahid Afridi’s own decision. It does not affect the World Cup. He is a great cricketer and a great entertainer.”
Appreciating the improved performance of the Women’s Cricket Championship PCB Chairman said, “there has been a lot of improvement in their fielding, batting and bowling.”
Talking about the cancelled Malala Cup, he said the tournament was cancelled due to Peshawar tragedy and will be conducted next year.
