ISLAMABAD-

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) key leader and central figure of lawyers’ movement Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday asked government to summon joint session of parliament to discuss counter-terrorism strategy after massacre of 149 people including 133 children in Peshawar, a private news channel reported.

Speaking at the floor of the Senate, Aitzaz said that Prime Minister should take the nation into confidence over the policy of government to combat terrorism.

Ahsan  said that only 10 per cent of religious seminaries in the country were involved in spreading militancy and religious scholars should play their role in this regard.

He urged the government to patronize the seminaries and modify their syllabus  according to present-day needs.

He further said that PPP has presented about twenty four proposals to the Parliamentary Committee on counter-terrorism.
